| Introduction
to PTA Money Matters |
This course, originally called “Money Matters,” is an introduction to financial information for any PTA member, board member, or officer. It covers the very basics of budgeting, auditing, treasurer’s reporting, governmental reporting, record keeping and pitfalls or ethical dilemmas to be aware of. (This course is not complete information about the full responsibilities of a PTA treasurer.) |
| Money Matters 101 |
This course will take you through everything you will be responsible for as a PTA treasurer including how to prepare a budget, conducting an audit, fundraising, managing money and bank accounts, electronic banking, treasurer’s financial reports, accountability to members and the government, and how to protect your 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. It is suggested that all PTA treasurers and presidents take this course, but it would be beneficial to any PTA officer. |
| Money
Matters 201 (Money Matters 101 is a prerequisite for this course) |
This course will take you more in depth into some of the legal issues you may encounter as a 501 (c) (3) association, including an IRS audit, PTA as a contractor or employer, regulations surrounding games of chance (gaming fundraisers), corporate sponsorships, vendors, U.S. Postal regulations, copyrights, lobbying, school tax referenda, and more. It is suggested that all PTA treasurers take this course, but it contains many legal issues that other PTA officers should be aware of. |
| President's Course |
The
president is the easiest job in the PTA and after you take
this course, you'll believe it! Duties of the president
will be discussed plus leadership tips and styles will
help you succeed in this office. |

units that become part of a council. |
